There are a million ways to fall in love with someone. And a millions reasons to. I guess the trick is deciding to you, which is the most important reason. I would say the best reason is "just cuz."
Do you fall in love with a person because you like looking at them? This has never worked out too well for me. How about because you like the same things? This worked out well for a while. But I would say it might be this decision to just be a lover.
Yesterday, at K-Mart (yes, I am truly at the pinnacle of my existence), I saw a family. 2 grandparents, the parents, and a boy and girl.. junior high age. All happy with the outing. The boy and girl each had a candy bar. The Grandparents had golden clad smiles (literally). Walking out with their purchases-- they all looked pleased. Dad carried popcorn from the eatery. Mom was speaking a mile a minute in spanish. All smiling. I wanted to run up to them and say something like "Aferrarse desesperadamente a esta momento." Cling desperately to this moment.
The moments in life I miss of my childhood are not the trips to Florida-- but rather all of us, in the pick up going to K mart.. getting a Nut Roll and choosing to love amidst the rush and shouting-- we forget these special moments in time.
They got in their rusty- piece oh car-- and drove off. I sighed. Life is simple when you just let it be, isn't it? Maybe you just choose love. And you love til you can't anymore.
Yesterday sucked more than most days for me. But, there was a simplicity of being smelly that far surpassed the complications of sitting in an office doing smart things. My hands still smell like shit. What can you do? Just choose to love it. And I did.
I guess, in life, you obviously should just choose to love that around you- Breath in the frost on your wind shield. Scrape it off-- feel the cold under your fingernails because you forgot your gloves. Laugh when the pony is in the street, smile at the church people being critical of you-- and know that your self-esteem isn't wrapped up in how much they think of you- but in god loving you no matter what. Embrace it.
There is a book I like a lot. It is called "I like you" Many people who I like have gotten this book as a present from me. The last line says something like: i like you because I just like you.
Ah... life.
Today will consist of running erands and going to see Ray Lamontagne- Awesome.
I am going to Idaho tomorrow. Woop!
