European court sides against Monsanto in soy meal case: The Advocate General in Europe has ruled
the Roundup patent on soybean seeds does not extend to processed soy meal. Monsanto has sought
to halt soy meal imports from Argentina containing the Roundup Ready DNA sequence, since there is
no patent in the country, but Roundup Ready soybeans are prevalently grown. The opinion of the
Advocate General must be confirmed by the European Court of Justice before there is a final ruling.
