Well your faith was strong, but you needed proof.
I am preaching at church this week (I have the sermon). I am a little nervous about it. Mainly because I am pretty sure that regardless of my backing by the bible, some people don't want to hear the truth about God.
Some people like to believe what they were told by their mom. Even if their mom didn't know.
I think a lot of us are like that. From a very young age we hear something and then we believe it.
Did you know there are people who think you couldn't possibly be nice, love God, and have a good career if you have purple hair. Or a nose ring?
Did you know there are people who think that Gay people will all go to hell? That God doesn't love them. I cry LIES!
There are people who believe that all sins are not sins. That there are weights and scales making them more holy than someone else.
oops.
I like how when Paul was talking about sins he lumps gossip with lude behavior, with homosexuality. Kind of like this: All one in the same.
Whatever.
Let's just put it this way.
I am nervous.

ReplyDeleteHave you heard that Catholicism is no longer teaching creationism? They're stinging creation story is an allegory and that God used evolution as a tool for creation. I was floored to here about progressive ideas actually making their way into the church. Baby steps, but maybe this is the beginning of some much needed real change.
